    1991 GM speed governor?!?!

does anyone know if my 91 GM has a top speed governor? when my speedometer hits 115mph (still havent got a speedo gear, so speedo reads 115 but im probably only doing about 90) it feels like it just cuts off the ignition. abrupt deceleration occurs. feels just like a chevy i had with a governor. this occurs at WOT at 4100rpms in 3rd gear. its definitly not an RPM governor, cause ive shifted at 4200+ before. anyways, anyone know for sure thats whats doing this... and how i can get rid of it? thanks for any info!

HO computers don't have speed limiters, just rev limiters. Time to do the HO swap....

Had a similar reaction in a 94 T-bird. Hit 115 in OD and you could hear the do the kill the fuel to the cylinder thingy. In that car (3.8) is was in the ECU. Jet chip took care of that problem!

I meant to respnd to this too: Drag and lack of power do not cause the symptoms he describes. A speed limiter usually feels like you turned off the car. My Chevy truck did it at 94mph. It just shut off until it slowed down a dew mph, then started right up again.
