sorry if this don't fit in here i didn't see a place for tranny's. so modderators if you need to move this go ahead. o.k. here's the set up- the car is an '84 crown vicky w/ the 5.0L towing package. the problem-i had a guy(shade tree mechanic)put a motor into my car because the engine i had was dead.after i got it back the car worked o.k. but evidently the old tranny could not keep up with the power of the newer motor and it soon died(couldn't shft outta first, leaked pretty bad up front. so i got a newly rebuilt one from a good friend that had a bout 500 miles on it befor his motor blew and he gave up on the car. so, i took mine out and put his in, i had been with him in his car right before it blew up and it ran fine, unfortunatly when i went for a test drive the thing wont shif outta first.just like the other one. now i've checked the spring on the pipe thing on the throttle body(don't know the right name) and it's still inplace,as well as the infamaous plastic gromet on the same part. i'm not so good on tranny's so any help on diagnosing this problem would be great. thanks

the tranny fluid that was in it originally looked and smelled fine when i got it. a bunch of it spilliedout the fillertub hole while we trasported it to my house. now that i've got it in i have refilled the tranny with fluid. on the test drive it reversed up the pretty steep hill of the driveway well and took off in drive,it was a little sluggish taking off but i figured it was the fluid working it's way through the system. but when i drove down the street it would not shift out of first. i tried puting it into 1 and tried to get to shift manualy by puting it into 2 but no good. figuring the fluid was to low i turned around went home parked on fairly level ground and checked the fluid again and it still read full on the dip stick. i really need help to get this car up and running. this is my daily, and i'm driving a borrowed car. thanks for any help.sigpic"I love it when a plan comes together." is there a way to adjust the "tv lever" if it does have constant presure? is the adjustment the littlenut and block thing at the bottom of the lever going to the tranny from the throttle body? this is apic of what i mean.

If this is a CFI car, the trans shifts extremely late if the linkage is way messed up. It holds full pressure and you'll see a hard shift at like 40 mph or so.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

all right guys, is there another adjustment for this? i evidently either didn't understand the directions or didn't do something right. when i adjusted the screw on the "butterfly" out till thirteen threads were infront of it the srew fell out of the bracket. it is the red circled one that i'm suposed to adjust not the blue circled one right? and when it talks about the bolt4. While the engine is idling, loosen the adjustment bolt on the arm on the side of the transmission with a 13mm socket one full turn. Push the arm up (towards the top of the vehicle) and gently tighten the bolt.sigpic"I love it when a plan comes together." Hanibal Smith (A-Team)

WTF mang!:devilflip::evil::cuss: all that is suposed to cost at least 350 bucks to do! and that's if "it does'nt get more involved than that". were they giving me the same b.s. line that they usually give women that don't know their stuff or what?(no offence to women but it's well known that shops tell women more b.s. stories to get more money out of them then they do guys, sorry but they do.) because by the wright up in the above sticky it does'nt mention all of that stuff. something just sound like they're trying to:fucker: me.

o.k. so i move the arm up the rod a little and test drive , then repete untill it works?not loosen it up and shove the arm skyward on the rod as far as it goes like the write up implies?sigpic"I love it when a plan comes together." Hanibal Smith (A-Team)
