    Stock Box Radiator Dimensions.

Like the title says......does anybody know this? I would go out there and measure it myself, but it is pouring outside and won't clear up 'til the morning. I am also wondering how the aftermarket radiator companies measure their stuff. I would guess from tank to tank in width and from the bottom of one tank to the top of the same tank. I would like to see if I can get an aftermarket unit that comes close to our box radiators.

Doesn't Blaze have an aftermarket radiator from Griffin or BeCool or someone?

I think he got a radiator from Summit. I took some rough measurements of the box radiator. 33-1/2" W x 20" H x 2-1/3" D (the tanks). I'll look at and contact the aftermarket radiator companies to see if they have any that come close to those measurements. Then I'll see which electric fan I can get to fit on whatever radiator I get. Again, I am trying to do as much research as possible to minimize down time on this car when I start really modding it.

          ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?

The inlet on box radiators (5.0L) is on the passenger's side and the outlet is on the driver's side, right?

Get a 31 x 19. Radiator companies measure overall, our factory rad is 31"tank so the aftermarket will be a little smaller, but you just need to relocate your driverside upper mount over. It is pretty easy.

I'm running a 31 x 19 griffen sportsman, it cools my motor fine with a big and a small electric fan.

You can get a radiator from either summit of speedway. I paid $160 for mine, a stock replacement runs like $200+

Funny, I paid somewhat less than that for the stock replacement I bought new. Granted, that was about 7 years ago.... I like the price on yours; does it include a tranny cooler, or do you have to run that separately?

That's the radiator that Griffin suggested I go with, probably because that is the largest one that they have. I figure with a big electric fan, tranny cooler, and possibly an electric water pump, I should be able to keep whatever modded engine I build relatively cool.

No it does not come with a tranny cooler, and I would not use it anyway. Just the 8-pass tube and fin cooler kept my tranny cool enough, with the additional 6-pass it keeps it at 150-180, that's with a C4 that holds 8qts and a 10" 2600 stall converter

Somewhat unrelated - is that the converter with the smaller flexplate bolt pattern that's used with a 157-tooth flexplate?

I got a Derale (I think that is the name) unit that I used on the Malibu, I figured that I can get better use out of it rather than it sitting in my basement.

Nope I'm using 164 tooth aod size flexplate, the converter I have is kinda custom since TCI does not list it. It is a big bell, pan fill, 28-spline, street fighter with a anti-baloon plate, the two similar that they list are priced about $670 or so, I paid $440 brand new, but I paid $100 each for two refurbished bell housings
