    nitrous on a 302

on my build im thinking on runnign nitrous and im mostly wondering what if cast pistons would be fine for nitrous and what compression i should stay around? kinda stinks being on a budget or else id buy the forged ones.

if im running nitrous i figured i should keep around the stock H.O. compression and if im running nitrous on cast pistons then i shouldnt go above a 100 shot but i want to make sure.

also i was wondering if the stock H.O. 19 lb. injectors would be strong enough for nitrous?

You are building a motor? Forged pistons for a 302 are almost free. If you can't afford to buy pistons, then you should be getting a low mileage Explorer motor which has hypereutectic pistons. Are you planning on doing a MAF conversion? The words cheap and nitrous together with speed density will yield you a melted motor..... I am not saying that it is big bucks, but if you have no budget, then you need to save up until your budget is bigger.

      cast or hyperutectic pistons?

also if you run a wet shot you wont need bigger injectors, but a bigger fuel pump is not a bad idea.

I was running a 125 shot on hyperutectic pistons, 16* of timing, and 87 octane. You should not do that cause it can melt your pistons really quick.

Last time i sprayed i was running 93 octane, 14* of timing, and the same pistons, no problems. Next time its getting the 150 jets and 12*

You are good for over a 200 shot on a forged HO shortblock. All day long.......

well i will be running a mass air conversion and i was worried that id buy cast pistons and melt them. so ill have to pay up for forgedor hyperutectic ones to be safe.

now the pistons i saw that were +12 cc's will bring the compression to 9.5:1 or 10:1?

Because your engine will explode in a titanic fireball, vaporizing all plant and animal life within a 46-mile radius, and also leveling all buildings within that zone, if you do.

If you are going to swap pistons swap to a forged piston if you are going to run a big shot of nitrous. While your at it pick up a Trickflow or Professional Products (if you wanna stay on the cheap side) Intake and a Junkyard set of GT40 heads.

Popups will recalibrate your refrigerator's thermostat so that all your ice cream melts. They will demagnetize the strips on all your credit cards, screw up the tracking on your VCR and use subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you try to play. Popups will give your ex-girlfriend your new phone number. They will mix Kool-Aid in your fishtank. They will drink all your beer and leave its socks out on the coffee table when there's company coming over. It They will put a dead kitten in the back pocket of your good suit pants and hide your car keys when you are late for work.
Popups will make you fall in love with a penguin. They will give you nightmares about circus midgets. They will pour sugar in your gas tank and shave off both your eyebrows while dating your current girlfriend behind your back and billing the dinner and hotel room to your Visa card. Such is the power of Popups-- They reach out beyond the grave to sully those things we hold most dear.

They will move your car randomly around parking lots, so you can't find it. They will kick your dog. They will leave libidinous messages on your boss's voice mail in your voice! Popups are insidious and subtle. They are dangerous and terrifying to behold.
Popups will give you Dutch elm disease. They will make a batch of methamphetamine in your bathtub and then leave bacon cooking on the stove while they go out to chase gradeschoolers with your new snow blower.

All this and the fact that you are spending more money on something that you don't need and can potentially cause issues with a funky combustion chamber shape and possible hot spots....

If I run nitrous, the internals are forged. period. same for TC or SC.

idk, maybe im still thinking imports over here still. i guess ill be better off sticking with the stock CR and run nitrous with it.

Thinking imports? I'm pretty sure turbocharged Eclipses ran fairly low static compression ratios.
