HI EVERONE IAM A NOOB LOL. I HAVE A 87 GRAND MARQUIS THAT I LOVE I HAVE DUAL EXHUST WHICH GAVE IT SOME REAL POWER HBUT I WANT MORE AND I DONT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY SO BOLT ONS ARE WHAT IAM THINK PLZ HELP

Yea sorry about the caps its a bad habit!! Well iam looking small and if iam still not happy ill spend more. I been thinking of starting with some header and a cold air intake but have no idea what to use. I hear that mustang shorty headers work has far as cold air intake i have no idea!! I need to give the car tune up any idea has wire and spark plug will help there to!!

i also here that mustang bolt on work and if so do i just go by the year of my car when iam looking???

A lot of what you need to read first is right here in the 5.0/5.8 Tech Forum. Reading these first would be a good idea. Headers from a Mustang work with a little modification to the exhaust flanges. Better to also get an H or Y pipe as well. Any parts store can hook you up with what you need for the tune-up. How many miles are on the car?

Biggest bang for your buck, changing the rear gear. It's a $200-$300 job, but it's the most band for your buck.

3.55 gears are a good compromise for fun and mileage. Since that crate motor is obviously a pipe dream (and a waste of money), save your money to do an Explorer motor swap which is entirely realistic for someone on a budget yet having an actual budget.

+1 for $4000 you could build a 331 with a kick ass set of heads (afr's, Trickflows, etc.) and a good cam and make another 100hp that that motor and still have money left for an intake. Hell for $4000 i could make my 351 into a 408 pushing over 500hp off the bottle

for simple bolt ons....

hit the junkyard and get a HO plenum, EGR, and throttlebody. the throttlebody will need to be modified so that it connects cables correctly and opens like the lopo/standard way. headers and such can be found on ebay for used mustang headers and exhaust parts. rear gears are a big improvement... cold air intake you can get from ebay for $30 shipped usually... do a search for 1990-1993 acura integra cold air intake. it needs to be modified/cut down some, but works.

another thing, since you have a 1987.... GET YOUR TV GROMMET REPLACED...

it is only like $5 or so for the brass one and a transmission shop can get it for ya. if you dont replace it, you will pay for a rebuild of your transmission which will cost much more than $5

i could do it cheaper since i only need the heads ($1100 or so), Stroker kit ($1200) and a new carb ($400). Ive already got a cam that will do it, an intake, ingition, and a fuel system.

what is a TV GROMMET REPLACED and u say it 5 buckets but what dose this thing do any how much to install lol like i said guys iam a noob!! i do alot of the work to the car my self but iam not to good with some of the word u guys are using!! u date i have a idea of what a tv gromment is now i seached it lol
