Anyone running their exhaust out the sides in front of the rear tires? I think a couple fellas did quite a while back. Anyone have any pics of side exit exhaust? Looking for hanger locations, how it was piped, ground clearance, and if it was a cat-back type setup.

I recently discovered side exits are legal here... I plan to run elbowed strait pipes off the H-pipe on a future boxPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

whatever you do, DO NOT LET THEM INSTALL S-BENDS to give you side exits. Makes the exhaust sound like completes ass, literally, even with 408 cubes and 500 hp forcing its way through

Side exits on a 4 door do not appeal to me at all, i'd rather have turndowns after the mufflers to conceal the exhaust so people can't see it and it looks like more of a sleeper. But if you want side exits, go ahead. I think that there's a spot near the frame in front of the rear tires that you could mount a hanger onto.88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)

I would use stock cat-back h-pipe and L-bends to reach the sides .... if that would work. I'm just tossin' around ideas for the '91.
Can someone tell me where I can find the stock h-pipe for a fair price?Last edited by monterey1962; 01-10-2008, 10:50 PM.

a place in Blair that does exhaust werk does good werk CHEAP. neighbor told me he had his exhaust redone for $50 - $60 on his truck. all i need is to get some shorty headers and take the stuff to them after Deue is running. i wanna put duals on my other panthers also but with offroad H pipe and shorty headers instead of offroad X pipe

I also liked the glasspacks I put on after I bent the turbo muffler side-exit system, but ground clearance was more of an issue, appearance was a big issue, and it just wasn't the same.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

I have glasspacks alongside the tranny, are you planning on running without any? As for hanger location Dan was right, the frame brackets that hold the LCAs for the rear axle make for very convenient hanger mounting points, tis a bit tricky to tighten them to the frame, but tis not too bad. You can kinda-sorta-maybe see the hangers for the L-pipes in the first pic. And this is how it looks from the back, keep in mind the car's ass is jacked up with cc819s:

I'm glad turndowns are legal here. Actually you can run straight pipes here and you won't get caught. My friend's F150 has a 302HO in his truck and he has a single 2.5" exhaust with no cats just a glasspack and a turndown before the axle. It's a nice deep tone, little raspy but not bad. Everyone thinks it has duals but that's because they can only hear it not see it. That's why: turndowns ftw!88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)
