    84's Cage...

Got the cage cut down today for the '84... It was made for a 95 Caprice.. so I had to cut it down some... So the first thing that happened was a piece of the metal shavings from the saw flew up and went under my faceshield, bounced off my cheek, and straight into my eye!!! DAMN I hate that when that happens!!! NOTE TO SELF: Wear GOGGLES next time! So anyway, I got it cut down, and went to take it over to the welding shop to have them weld on some round stock to the edge where I had to trim it... and they were closed!!! DAMN!!! I got there 5 minutes after 5, and they were already gone!!! Talk about bankers hours!!!....

The areas that I had to trim off.... (the area outlined in red)

So I had to go to the E.R. tonight to make sure I got the metal out of the eye.. as my eye kept hurting... So the Doc looked at the eye, and said that I had just scratched the eye.. but it will heal with no problems... She put some dye in the eye to look at it for foreign bodys... it was funny, it turned my eye green... she let me look in the mirror... it was really freaky looking.... I asked her if I could leave it in and go to work like that.. but she said no and washed it out... as it started to burn a little... so she laughed and said THATS why you wouldn't want to do that!

    Tom....

Oh by the way, I can finnally drive into my driveway without driving thru a lake!

It's taken me five years of working under rusty cars to finally realize that a pair of goggles is in order when you're doing under car work. WHAT a difference they made. I still have the tendency to flinch when the rain of rust particles comes down.

          Cage update....

Well, the cage is done as far as cutting it down. The welding shop cut and then replaced the round stock in the right place... It looks good! He even straightened a couple of small places, and re welded some of the welds that didn't look like they were very good. Repainting it is tommorow, along with fabricating the mounts to mount it to the "B" pillar.... like this.....

So then it is on to the radios and light wiring, then install the rest of the interior!!! WOO HOO!!!! Tom...
