IAC valve

I removed the Idle Air Control Valve on the side of the TB, to clean it, and the gasket fell apart. Autobone (closest parts store) didn't have the gasket, so I ended up just using RTV sealant. Anyone see a problem with this? I can still remove the RTV and use the "official" rubber seal if need be. I was careful and made sure to coat all the surfaces evenly that the original seal mated to.

So the PCV valve is mounted straight down?

PCV is mounted at a bit of angle, tilting backwards towards the firewall if I remember correctly.

I know I got an IAC gasket with my intake gasket set, but I don't really see a problem using RTV as long as you don't have any vacuum leaks.

I just worked on mine and IIRC it's the graphite gasket that you were talking about. They crumble if you disturb them to much. I was told not to use RTV, however I did have a new gasket to use (was going to RTV one side). I don't see any problem using it and you should be fine like Tiggie said. For future reference, you should try somewhere like Rockauto, they're pretty cheap, fast and also carry Motorcraft stuff.

I've been looking for ten minutes and can't find the damn IAC for anything. Which side of #4 injector is it? Whats the stock one look like? Whats connected to it?

Found this post, but there's 3 different "large rubber hoses" in this location, one of them attached to the fuel rail. Can anybody tell me where the pcv is in relation to cylinder 4 fuel injector?

It's actually stuck into the rear passengeer part of the lower intake.

It's a tough one to find. Replace the screen while you are in there. Use a screw or something to take it out.

Got this stuff off crownvic.net.
Now I can't get the damn PCV filter out? I've put a 3 inch wood screw into it and tried pulling out with a pair of adjustable pliers, but it won't budge. Any tips? Its totally caked with oil.

Should be three little tabs on on the screen. I took a small screwdriver and bent one of the tabs up and pulled it out of there with some needlenose pliers.

Man, such a PITA to change the PCV on an injected car. Its just too easy with a carbed car...

Pull the upper intake, getting the PCV is real easy then. Never had problems with the big screw and pliers method once the upper was out of the way. Just did one yesterday actually. It was pretty nicely caked with carbon chunks. Used a big screw, and a long pair of needle nose pliers. Grab the screw with the pliers, and lever them against the gasket surface where the upper and lower meet. Basically you'll be pushing down on the handles of the pliers, and it will pull the screw and screen right out of there.
