What does that have to do with small converters? If someone is asking about small converters, they will be doing performance upgrades....

Physics doesn't work that way... Smaller area, higher speed stall.

I just bought the Bauhmann kit, we'll see how that works. Will I still need to change the shift governor with this kit? Reading on Bauhmann's website makes it sound like no, but I'm asking to be sure

It's -1 up here right now and the old girl is running like a raped-ape

So then you probably want either a stock replacement or something more like a TorkMaster 2000 or 2400?

I'm sure you've mentioned before, but what all's going into the engine that will be in front of it?

How much do those things run? Not every build will be able to justify spending more than $100-$200 on a torque converter ....

and GR, I'd personally be thinking something like a 2000-stall with that cam, depending on how the heads flow. Have you tried punching the flow numbers into something like Desktop Dyno?

Depends on what you want. I have a Supercoupe converter in mine from these folks, and the entire trans job was very reasonable, so I doubt the converter was a huge expense.

I'd get around an 1800-2k, Stock HO's benefit from 2400-2800 stall however.... The explorer cam should have a bit more bottom end than the HO cam. I was not happy with a 2K stall and 3.73's on a stock HO in my 87.

Gadget, the TV is adjusted properly. THAT'S the FIRST thing you make sure you do on an AOD. It might also be a combo of the mustang converter, and my 2.73 rear. I can pul 28 m.p.g. on the highway with no problem, but the 13-15 around town is KILLING me!!!! Especially since most of my driving is local.

28 MPG on the highway? That's fantastic!

I thought 15 city MPG was typical, though.
