I know .... because a little birdie said so!
(and also the fact that my semi-HO conversion in the LTD is a dog shifting at 4 grand, but I've not yet come up with info on significantly raising shift points on a C4 transmission)2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

I dont have the ho governor and it still hauls some serious ass. im gonna put one on soon anyways though.Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

Huh, didn't realize your motor was making power to 6 grand. My experience with my 2000-stall converter is that it raises engine RPM at WOT shift point by about 400-500 RPM, so with a 4900-5000 governor I'm expecting shift points around 5400.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

6 grand? what motor are you building for that thing? Most 5.0 motors are pretty much done by 5500 unless its a decently radical build. Unfortunately most of those high RPM motors don't tend to be high torque at low RPM motors, and thats what you really need with a big heavy car with the aerodynamics of a brick wall. It might not sound as fun, but for small displacement, you want to build a motor that sounds more at home in a 4x4 truck than a race car, but you'll get much better results out of it.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Im not saying it will rev to 6,000, but if it will I want it to.
std bore, flat top pistons, p/p e7's, gt40 valves, explorer cam, p/p ho upper and lower, 24lb inj, 65mmtb, bigger fuel rails, 255lph fuel pump, 1.7 roller rockers. 4.10 gears and a shift kit.
Im still not sure about which converter to use.

with that motor, you're not going to want it to even try to 6,000 for WOT shifts. It'll run out of steam about 5200 and will languish there till it finally hits 6k and shifts. I have that exact motor for all intents, and I know its behavior well. I actually held it manually in first just the other night for shits and giggles, and around 5300 it stopped pulling and popped a header gasket. Stock HO governer with a shift kit to get it to shift about 5k is well suited for that setup.
also, no need for larger fuel rails, or really the 24# injectors with that cam and head combo. Fuel pump is somewhat overkill as well, but its not going to hurt anything. I think I'm running a 125 in mine.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
