importance of MAP sensor level???

while I was at the shop drilling holes for the new MAP sensor mount, one of the guys said I need to keep it mounted above the level of the intake manifold, in case of stray gas vapors that can eat the MAP sensor diaphram.

Does this make sense to anyone? Scott? Eric??

considering the Map sensor vaccum source comes from inside the intake manifold, where I would assume there are lots of fuel vapors, I would say its completely irrelevant.

The vapors aren't going to travel the miles and miles of vac hose to eat the diaphragm. I say fuck it. Put it wherever you want. I don't think vapors care about up and down, they will go wherever they want.
