Photo set of stock '79 351-2V intake manifold

I finally found the set of photos I took of my LTD's original intake manifold. I can't remember for the life of me who I was chatting with several days ago when I was trying to explain some of the details of this thing like the funky carb mounting pad and the hole in the exhaust crossover for the hot-air choke tube. Anyway, here are the pics, so we can all look and learn all we want about a part most of us couldn't be bothered to care about: one of the least glamorous bits ever to leave a Ford assembly line!

Interesting, that's different than the intake on my 351. Are the holes in the inlet ports for the EGR?

Ah. No, I think those are the outlets for the EGR, where it spews the nasty exhaust gases into your nice fresh intake air. I'm pretty sure it's the big filthy-looking holes on the left (which come up in the approximate location of the EGR hole on the intakes we're more familiar with) where the junk comes out of the crossover and into the EGR valve assembly.

Not really, this one's aluminum. Don't remember it being too much heavier than the Performer 289, really.

Oh, I see, so the holes on the left are where the EGR gas comes in, and the holes inside the carby inlet are where it comes out. Gotcha.

Good scrap aluminum. Someone 15 years down the road is gonna be searching high and low to find an intake like that to restore their '79 CS to Thoroughbred Concours standards.
