    Does this performance chip work?

Has anyone tried this performance chip? Does it work?

I wouldn't recommend buying a chip that's supposed to be for '88-'95 cars since the '92+ cars were entirely different from the '86-'91s.

Some EEC IV are tunable, primarily the Mustang and Mark VII computers. Those pre-burned gigs are generally useless though, especially since the motor was changed in 92 as Nate mentioned. I can't imagine anything tuned for a 5.0 lopo motor would be anything close to being tuned for a 4.6 mass air motor that makes more power.

On a stock motor it won't do anything anyway. Best bang for your buck on a stock car is dual exhaust and gears.

Stay away from that, all the things it "improves" aren't even controlled by the ECU on 91 and back cars. Trans shifts are controlled by the TV cable, adjust it tighter, and there is your "chip".

"Superchips Engine Programmer - Blue 1988-1995 Mercury Grand Marquis SUPERCHIPS UNPROGRAMMED FLASH MODULE, BLUE -- Increases Power And Torque, Requires 4 Digit Computer Code On Vehicle, Speedometer Calibration For Larger Tires, Allows Alterations Of The Transmission Shift Points And Firmness, Increases Overall Drivability and Fuel Economy
                  Finish: Blue"
Unprogrammed? Apparently they flash it upon ordering. I would doubt they even have a flash code available for the lopo cars. Upon ordering it, they would either tell you they actually do NOT have one after all, or if they are dumb enough they will send one burned for a mustang ECM. Even if they did make one for our cars there wouldn't be much they could do to improve it, maybe alter fuel mixtures and timing a little but for 5-10HP, it would be a waste of money unless your car has already been converted to full HO w/ HO ECC and all.

I also thought some of the lopo ECM's lacked the port altogether, but I may be wrong. I know my buddies 91GM has a port on it, my 86 [r.i.p.] did not IIRC.

The stock motor breathes so bad through its crappy intake, exhaust, heads, and cam and has stupid gears that no amount of chip tuning is really going to make it go much better.
