I have a question about the clutch cable adjustment with a T5 trans. I just helped a friend of mine swap out an A4LD for a T5 in his fox body mustang and we are having some trouble getting enough travel out of the clutch cable. We have the quadrant and pedal adjusted as far as they will reach and we still need more pull on the cable. I can start the car in a gear and get it to move but going from neutral to any gear with the clutch pedal all the way down just grinds. The entire setup is a direct swap from another mustang parts car, all stock components with a new clutch kit of course.

You can adjust the pivot post at the other end of the clutch fork as well.

However, if you aren't getting enough travel something isn't right. A completely stock setup shouldn't have this problem. Is the rubber bushing at the firewall still on the clutch cable? And is it squishing? Are you using a solid clutch quadrant or the stock auto adjust one, if the stock, then is it slipping?

Are you not getting enough travel, or not enough adjustment? IE, can you adjust the cable so that with the pedal not pressed at all that the clutch fork is hard up against the pressure plate? (NOTE: that is not the proper adjustment, just a way to see if you have enough adjustment range.)

Is it the correct cable? Is it a 2.3 or 5.0L?

He ended up adding a spacer between the firewall and the cable mount on the engine side of the firewall. I think he was missing a bushing or something that would space it out. Works great now, went for a ride in it a few hours ago.
