I'm trying to order a new Idle Air Control for my GM and I having a problem verifying the part I need. The part number on my current IAC is E6AE-9F715-C1A, however I got no results in the Motocraft catalog, and can't find the part with the VIN lookup. Fordfuelinjection.com lists the part as F0AE-9F715-BA/ (motocraft CX1824). Using their Motocraft number, I got a result for a part used 86-93, BUT the Grand Marquis applications start in 87. Even though mine is an 86, the part looks the same, is this the one I need? Thanks everyone.

It'll work. No idea why but many catalogs have no application for 1986 vehicles. They don't use a special IAC in 86 tho.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Thanks a lot, now I can order the part. My dad says he though it had something to do with the 85-86 changes, maybe just a typo? It was the only part really difficult figuring out. I want to get a new gasket, can I use the Dorman one on RockAuto with the Motorcraft IAC?sigpic

all the iac gaskets are identical as far as I know.
Lots of the factory info for 86 models is wierd. My body/chassis/electrical manual indicates the 86 uses CFI, but the EVTM shows SEFI.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

yeah the 86-91 are the same you should have no problem getting one. I got mine at advance 60.00 the gaskets are all the same.

Thanks again for the info. Maybe it's just an oddball year, first for fuel injection and the new EEC right? The parts already on order from Teamfordparts and the price was fine. I tend to learn towards the Motorcraft/Ford parts most of the time.sigpic
