Did you have to do any tricks or change any parts to get the alt belt on? I've got the 130amp and it's already in there mighty snug.

same crap really. If you can find a 49 or 49 1/2" belt, it should probably be easier to get the belt on. Mine involved removing the lower alternatoe bolt, and loosening the upper bracket to get it together. Actually the 3g with stock pullies could stand a longer belt too.

There's a 49.5" belt for ya. Gotta love my expirience in parts stores, and knowing what the belt number means!

What's this about having trouble finding a 49" or 49.5" belt? I just walk into the parts house and ask for them, tell them to forget what the computer says I need (usually 50 or 50.5) because it's too long.

It was a case of nobody had one on the shelf, not that they don't exist.

if you dont have A/C or a smog pump anymore you could get the march pulleys I got for my 351. I'll have to grab a part # when I go back home, was only $45 for the crank and $35 for the water pump pulley, I used the stock alt pulley and no PS pump for now. Everything lines up just fine.

My ma's CV doesn't have A/C and it never will. It does have the smog pump, which I am going to see if I can retain for the Lightning engine. If said underpulleys work without either smog pump or A/C, which alternator can I use if I go with an electric fan and electric water pump?

try changing the smog pump pulley to one from a Mark VII, it might fix the offset to allow the single belt. You're on your own about how to route the belt to run it though. Honestly its not that important, my car passes NJ smog just fine with no pump on the car.

Yep, whatever years used serpentine-style belts for the A/C will interchange. The earlier pulley will also interchange as long as you're not running A/C.
