WHen I went to exchange the lever on my TC throttle body to the one for the HO engine, I found that the TC's throttle shaft is designed in such a manner that I can't install it in the HO throttle body with the 60 mm plate. Mine has a slot in the shaft the plate slides into, but it isnt large enough to take a different plate. I'm assuming I need either a different year TC lever, or am I just confused about what I need to do here? Right now I have the 50 mm unit installed, but once I find the time to fix the fuel leak and whatever damage my fire caused, I'd like to upgrade to the 60 mm unit.

Oh, ok. Problem is, my cables don't attach via holes, they hook onto posts for both the TV and accelerator/cruise cable. Would I be needing to change the cables on the car to match up with an 88 lever, or get an 86 lever to match my cables ?86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

you need to swap the throttle lever from your 86 towncar throttle body........take a grinder and carefully grinf off the flattened area of the throttle shaft on the lever end and wiggle the mustang throttle lever off.......put the towncar throttle lever on and either tach weld it on or drill and tap a hole in the throttle shaft and use a screw and washer.........i have done it both ways, and both work well
let me know if this helps you, if not i can take some pics, or you can come out here and i'll help you fix up your throttle body
good luck!

you swap the throttle lever its self.... NOT the entire shaft and butterfly.
Like Scott said, you grind the tab off the where the shaft is pressed into the lever, then beat on it with a hammer.

Ahh now I understand what you mean. Thanks a bunch.
Scott: I still need to remember to get a list of decent boneyards for some parts scavenging I need to do. One of these weekends if you're free, and feel like taking a ride we'll have to do that.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
