Parking brake cable is fucked up

WTF? My parking brake cable doesn't want to release all the way. This is some fucked up shit. I even tried lubricating the cable and nothing. Now I gotta pull on the pedal to let it release fully. Piece of shit car is falling apart.

you might want to pull off the drums and look to see if everything is ok back there...

My solution is to not use a parking brake

Sounds rusted. Check the cable that runs along the driver's side wear the cable leads to the drum. You should see a spring and some other junk right after the rear wheel I believe.

I had the drums off because I had to replace one of the rear cables and a small cable inside the drum and they are fine. Looks like I am gonna need a new center spring.

I never use the parking brake but I need to fix it now cause I am selling it.

pulling the pedal up with your hand will make it release??
rig up a return spring on the bracket where the cable splits off under the car. we just did this at work to a dodge truck lol (this is after replaceing the shoes, hardware, and both rear e-brake cables) :cuss:

I can't find a spring long enogh to work. Will have to visit the junkyard soon.

Ya if your gonna sell it you should fix it. My parking brake you have to pump to make it work. I forgot i had it on oneday and it didnt come loose till i hit about 40. Hasnt worked right since

we used a drum brake spring, the long one that holds both shoes together at the adjuster.
