    AOD Rebuild

Alright guys, My AOD was the victim of a TV mishap, I bought the car for a steal from a guy who had a new transmission put in, the shop was obviouly not use to the AOD because the TV cable is too long, Causeing the tranny to die after a few days, the previous owner got fed up and let it go cheap. No I got it ad looked at the cable and the adjuster is all the way back and there is still bought a 1/3 of an inch of cable left after the block at idle. So the tranny is all burnt up, now can some one tell me what all goes in an AOD when it is burnt up from the slippage and low line pressure of the TV mishap? would a master rebuild kit like this :

replace everything that would have been likely damaged? I figure it's a better route to rebuild since it is a new gear set and a new casing. My Mom Boyfriend is a Transmission rebuilder so he will be doing the rebuild I'll just be helping and learning. any advice is appreiciated and recomendations are WELCOME!

      Bad linky mang.

Rebuild kits are always a good idea, espeically since you don't know for sure what the trans shop replaced and what they didn't.

I'm no transmission builder, but my gut feeling would to do an autopsy first before buying parts, providing you're doing the rebuild yourself.

Rebuilding an AOD is fairly simple, However do you need some special tools and a good repair manual. the ATSG book is inexpensive and faily decent, but I find he sketch drawings less than helpfull most times. there are VHS tapes or DVD's you can buy that shows to build an AOD. that might be an good investment.

well your link doesnt work. if i were you and my moms boyfriend was gonna rebuild it, i would show him and ask if thats everything he needs to do the job.

That was actually the plan, but I think I'm done with it, I'm getting bit by the 4x4 bug again. Anyone want to buy it?
