I'm new to the forum and have a question about the gm I bought from my aunt. The car is a 86 GM with a 5.0 Fi , the has 5600 miles on it, Yes 5600. It sat for the last 2 years and was only driven around the block a few times a year since 1996 when my uncle died. I had to put a new fuel tank, fuel pump and sending unit in it, it sat with gas in it and they were shot. I changed the fuel filter, all the fluids, belts and hoses. I've put injector cleaner in and I've put about 150 miles on the car. The problem I'm having is if I'm going at a steady speed and try to speed up a little the car will hesitate and will continue to do that until I let go of the gas or put it to the floor.Any help would be appreciated.

It's either the throttle position sensor, or the injectors have a TON of varnish clogging them up from the extended garage storage. Have someone test the TPS, and also get the injectors professionally cleaned (not the Jiffy Lube injector cleaner, either, I mean to have them removed, cleaned, and flow-tested, you would be surprised how many driveability problems can be traced to injectors).

i was thinking along the lines of shift points due to the TV pressure. i would get the transmission serviced and get the TV grommet replaced before you burn up the transmission. another thing to check which i noticed you didnt change was the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. when you go to adjust the timing, there is a "T" looking plug hanging from 2 wires by the base of the distributor you will wanna pull to set timing. it gets set at 10 degrees on the side of the balancer that goes to 30. have you also checked your air tubes to make sure a mouse didnt build a nest and that your air filter is ok.

TPSGive a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

I'm also thinking varnished injectors. Sitting for 11 years with fuel would definitely affect their function.
Also, wow, 5600 miles. Must be like getting into a time machine.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
