    AOD tv rod problem

After getting the Windsor put in my car, I went to hook the throttle and the tv rod back up. But I think that little threaded stud that comes out of the transmission that the tv rod bolts to got pushed into the the transmission and now it won't come back out.

You can't use the stock TV rod with a 4bbl carb, mang...

I fixed the problem, i had to pull the pan off and adjust the rod cuz it got stuck on the transmission case. And I am able to use the stock tv rod cuz i ditched the edlebrock carb for a factory 4bbl.

              This rod WILL NOT work.

You have to run some other setup, like a Lokar TV cable kit.

You will ruin your trans otherwise...

I am using the carb of my 68 Lincoln and I have it adjusted so the tv rod works the way it should and i took it for a drive and its shifting nice with no problems.

Trust me, I know. Not trying to discourage you, but I don't want to see another fried AOD in such a nice car..

Going from limited experience here, but I would think that you could use the rod if you can fabricate a little linkage to go on the side of the carb and get the geometry somewhere near right.

But it certainly doesn't sound like the pressure is right.

I have yet to hear of a rigged up setup working right, and I do not encourage mediocrity here.

A 68 Linc is prolly gonna have a 4300 Autolite. It would also have the auto trans provision, but that doesn't help anything when you are running an AOD.
We need pics mang to see how you got the rod to work. It is possible, given that the rod is being pushed back right behind the throttle lever. But we need pictures to see. I'd like to use a rod when I convert to 4-bbl.

If you can get the geometry right, and the rod will clear the intake, there really is no reason for it to not work. Mostly the problem is getting the geometry correct. Basically you'd need to take measurements of the stock cfi unit and get the distance from throttle shaft center to the center of the hole for the TV rod and compare it to the measurement from throttle cable to throttle shaft center. Just make the ratio the same on a 4bbl and you're good to go.
