Oil Light Problem.

its the yellow one...I only have a "check oil" light...I dont see a red one..except for the "engine" light.

its very sporatic...comes on just after the car is one...comes on after a little drive...comes on after a long drive...I dont get it.

The Red One Is The Check Engine Light, that comes on either when there's no Oil Pressure or if it's overheating. The yellow light is to tell you when you need oil/ running out of oil. Probably the sender. Check the wire too. To do this unplug it and drive it around. If the light comes on, it's the wire. The sender is easy to change, it's just a big nut in the oil pan on the side of the motor. Drivers side with a single wire coming out of it. Remove the wire carefully, it's in a plastic thing that breaks easily. Once that's off drain the oil and remove the sender. I don't know how much they go for.

Should have bought a TownCar, then you'd have both lights and know exactly what's going on :p Check the wiring for the oil-level sensor where it goes between the alternator, PS bracket, and engine block and driver-side head - mine had something rub through the insulation and the wire was shorting out against some of said components, causing "check oil" light to come on. Some carb cleaner, electrical tape, and corrugated plastic insulation solved the problem for good.

BULL! Yellow light = low oil, check engine light = bend over at the mechanic's, he got the yellow one so he needs to check the wire that I told him to check :p
