stock panther vc's on 1.7 rr?

Will the stock valve covers fit over the 1.7 crane roller rockers I put on if I remove that oil baffle on the passenger side. I know they seal well and I'd rather not buy another set off a mustang because they seem to go for upwards of 50 dollars most of the time.

Really? Because my stock TC valve covers wouldn't clear my Cobra (Crane) 1.7's, they weren't even close to clearing......... But I'm running "The SUPER MYSTERY (probably an "E") Camshaft!!!!!" So that's possibly why.

Are you 100% sure? Because mine weren't even CLOSE to clearing, and I'm running the Cobra 1.7's. The stamped steel covers that are on the SN95's, I thought for some reason they were a similar height to the cast aluminum ones.......

They sure as hell look like the early Cobra cover. The late Cobra cover looks exactly like the Panther one, with COBRA stamped into them. They're one of the few sets of covers that clear under the SN95 intake, so they're sort of desirable in that crowd.

OK, now, I got a buddy of mine to measure his SN95 valve covers (he has a 95 GT), and they were 2" tall on the short side, 2.5" tall on the tall side. My TC covers are ~1.5-1.75" on the short side and 2" on the tall side.

I will add that when I tried to put my TC covers over top of my 1.7's, they literally sat like 1/2" off the head or so (could be exaggerating a bit here, but they definitely were sitting ON the rockers, not touching the heads), sitting ON the rockers. As I said, there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of them fitting. That's why I had to scrounge up a set of the cast aluminum Mustang ones.

My car is weird???????? maybe? I dunno. I did have to take the baffle out of the HO covers though, but that was to be expected, had to do the same thing (plus a little grinding) on the Mustang when I was running the TFS #1. I run the FMS tall valve covers on it now, so that's a null issue.

Apparently it is, because the stock 94-95 Mustang GT, 93-95 Mustang Cobra, and stock 5.0L panthers valve covers are all supposed to be identical. My valve covers are 94-95 Mustang GT valve covers and I have 1.7 Cranes under them.

OK guys I just put them back on today, I tested them first by placing them on the engine without gaskets and there was no sign of contact at all. I tapped the oil baffle out of the way a little bit just in case.

DO roller rockers go higher and higher at high RPMS? or do they rock and roll the same distance at all RPMs?
