It just depends on what year your car is.. after 1990 (I think?) they were electric, before that they are speedo cable... just got to get the right kind for the right year.... Tom....

I got ur message pete and i might be buying one from you i been lookin at all the yards in my area and i cant find one.. How do you connect teh speedo cable or well disconnect it from your old speedo? And to all my car is a 1985.. So no mods or extra stuff for it to read the correct mph!The Best

the speedo cable comes right out, you just gotta find the sweet spot on the white clip holding it on and it will release. the reast is plug and play.. you might loose some options like the oil level warning light or your trip odometer but it is plaug and play.
I think you will need a new speedo gear in the transmission to get it to read right.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

I thought they would swap without a gear change. I think the speed at the cable should be the same rate in any box body, hence the need for a different gear for a rearend gear swap to keep the cable the same rate.Chris - A 20th Century Man \m/ ^.^ \m/

do they??? i just assumed that since the 140 has a wider sweep it would read way too fast... like it would read 140 when youre doing 85. maybe its got something inside the speedo to compensate.
anyone know?? maybe i should pop one in mine and see hhmmm.... i dont want to risk breaking my gear indicator cable bracketPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
