    ***URGENT*** - Waterpump

    Hey Y'all.

The water pump has just gone the on teh LTD and as its an 85' CFI Eastern Industries (who we stock) list three pumps.

The only one of the three we keep in stock is the STD LTD/CV one. (exc Police, Taxi & H/D Towing)

the other options (which we dont stock) are listed as :

5.0 LTD, High Output, Automatic Overdrive Trans, W/ 3.5" Diameter 6 vane impeller

    OR

    5.0 LTD W4/4" Diamter 8 Vane Impeller.

Is it okay to use the first one, are they all interchangeable without messing up the length, backplate etc.

I need to get the car back on the road tomorrow morning as i am off on my hols next wednesday and i cant get another style pump before then (well not without paying stupid prices this pump costs me £16 ($32))

Your fast repsonse would be appreciated!!

If you don't have anything else in stock, and the stocker worked fine up until it died, just get the stock replacement. Anything else is kind of pointless unless you get a larger radiator, or have considerably modifications performed to the car.
So far as the HO application is concerned, I wonder if that HO pump is for the 5.0 HO (SMALL LTD 4-door with the Mustang CFI in it), and thus has a reverse-rotation pump....until I had more info, I would just get the stocker.

cool, thats what i wanted to hear tbh. As long as all the pumps are interchangeable then im happy.

the listings (inc that HO 5.0) are definately in the Fullsize section.

Do the one that you have stocked. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If the stock one worked before, then there's no sense changing it to something else.

i have pictures up of how i replaced mine about 2 weeks ago or less. mine was really bad. i painted the new one since the rust after you get them on the car. if the stock one lasted this long, why switch.

there are the pics of my old water pump

You forgot to buy Twinkies. Now the whole repair job is doomed to failure.

They are all interchangable, only have one difference externally that can cause issues. The HD ones have 2 extra bolts around the water outlets.

He also forgot to buy a set of new bolts to replace the ones that will snap off!

I've managed to re-use my original bolts like 5 times now, and they're still OK. I've actually yet to break one, but I suppose I'm lucky. Whenever they've been out, I have run them through a wire wheel and the die to clean any garbage off the threads.

anti seize is your friend, makes life much nicer. it is a necessity when using stainless bolts in stainless nuts.
