Do me a favor if you would, before cutting and gutting too much with the evaporator, see if its possible to open that box up without and massive disassembly of the dash or cutting things open. I'd like to get some access to clean mine out with a hose or whatever, but I'm not going to tear into the dash to get at it. I'm hoping that removing some screws from the evaporator case will let it come apart somewhat so it can be cleaned. My evap ices up when the fan is on low. I'm assuming its got dirt in there and doesn't drain properly. That was the problem with the AC at our last house, once it was cleaned out it never had problems again.

I'd keep it just because if you're driving in the rain, that can fog up the windshield too, just as easily as in the winter. And if you don't have any way to defrost it, you'll be a very unhappy li'l mang.
