I found a oil cooler on a 90 CV cop car in the junk yard. The question is what would it do for my Vic? I don't race or beat the car, would it help or just be nice to have. I have pulled the sway bars, front and rear, the PS cooler, and the trans cooler. There is really nothing left on the car worth getting except the oil cooler.

If you're driving the car far enough all the time that it gets warmed up thoroughly, then it's a good thing to have, but if you're just doing little 5 minute jaunts around town, then it's not so good since it prevents the oil from getting up to temperature. The other problem with it is that it's plumbed in at the oil filter mount, so after you put it on, you have to use a smaller filter. (Motorcraft FL-300 instead of Motorcraft FL-1A)

I actually checked into this, and I was told that one should check the oil temperature before adding a cooler. If its not overly hot, don't bother. Apparently overly cool oil is just as bad as overly hot oil because it doesn't boil the moisture and such out. Probably would be useful on a road trip car or other heavy workload application.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

not many people do run one. I was actually thinking of using the IR temp gun to check the pan temperature after a drive to see what it runs at. It should give a close enough reading to tell if further checking is warranted.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
