what are the best ones to get? not necessarily the most expensive but what should i be looking for in a good timing chain? any recommendations? what should i stay away from?

Double roller chains are usually better, they don't stretch as much. If you're not looking to do anything fancy, a standard Cloyes or whatever is fine. If you want to advance the cam, Cloyes also makes an adjustable one for like 30 bucks. Standard one is like 23 bucks.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
