    My 86 has the metal brackets to. I didn't know you could try and pry/ pop it out but the rivet thing wasn't a big issue. I just need to get one of the guns so I don't have to rely on others so much.

      My '87 also had metal lock-actuator brackets. Seems I swapped them over to the new front doors I got off a '90. I don't have a riveter that big, so it seems I just used little bolts or something - 1/4-20 or maybe even smaller.
