I had the exact same thing happen on my 91. Would only run hot with the air conditioning on. I pulled off the fanshroud and found the rad was damp on the bottom left corner. Replaced and was good as new. Wish I would have gone with a 2 or 3 row aluminum rad (whatever one blaze used) as it actually would have been cheaper than the stock radiator, and would have cooled it a hell of a lot better. Will be goin aluminum in the 88 eventually, just gotta order it. Glad you got it fixed. And those thermostat bolts, spent much time fucking around with those, finally marked my distributor with chalk, unlocked it, moved it, then did the t-stat.
