    More codes - KOER Test

I ran a KOER (Key On Engine Running) test on the '88 today to try and discover the part throttle miss it has. I got the following codes

12 - Cannot control RPM during engine running self-test high RPM check
94 - Secondary air injection system inoperative (left side)
44 - Secondary air injection system inoperative - right side
34 - Insufficient EGR flow/Excessive exhaust back pressure; or EVP voltage above closed limit(SONIC)/PFE sensor voltage high or out of range
74 - Brake On/Off circuit failure - not actuated during test

The 74 is probably because I didn't push the brakes like the book said before the testing began. The rest I'm pretty clueless on. The 44 and 94 means to me that I can remove the smog stuff because it isn't working anyway. The 34 we've discussed before, but I'm still not sure what to do about it. The 12 I'm not sure either.

So my main concerns are the 34 and 12. What do I need to do about them?

Vacuum leak between the manifold and the controls over on the fender can cause all of the above. No vacuum to the solenoids makes none of the smog or egr stuff function, and can make the idle high. You can check the positon sensor fairly easily, chart is at fordfuelinjection.com. Possible you have a chunk of gunk in there hanging the egr valve open.

I still have a code 12. Car runs fine, although it's getting terrible mileage. I have tried replacing/cleaning the ICS, replacing TPS, have removed/replaced as much of the vacuum system as I can... no effect on the code 12. Also got a tach. It shows the idle right where it should be.

GOod luck on hunting down the problem.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll check into it more in depth when I get the car up in the garage again for its repair and body session that it is due for.
