    Why does my car hate me??

    I just don't get it.

    I had a new fuel pump put on recently, if anyone remembers my thread about the car turning over but not starting. Well, it's already gone out.

    Lately she's also been having some shifting issues. Two weeks ago on my way to work the person infront of me slowed down to turn, and when I pushed on the gas it just revved. So I took my foot off and tried again, just revved, then kicked into gear. ?!?!

    Full throttle also isn't always full throttle anymore. Sometimes you get full acceleration, usually you don't. Acts like your foot is 1/2 to 3/4 down on the pedal. If you back your foot off a little, then you get more acceleration. It even feels as if the shift points are off a little...

    Oh, can't forget how it chugs and "gags" so to speak under deceleration.

    What the #*&! is up with my car?!?!?!?!

    it's old and is begging for maintenance

    1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

    1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
    1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
    2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad
    1987 TriBurner and 1986 Alaska stokers keeping me warm. (and some pesky oil heat)

    please be patient, rebuilding an empire!

      Lucas Trans Treatment mang might do some good.
      seriously..may not completely fix it, but worth a try...
      when my trans was slipping when I first got it, I put that stuff in and it did improve it substaintially...but I ended up getting the trans rebuilt anyway.

            It's called "slipping" - it's kind of a bad thing. Know any good transmission rebuilders?

            Huge bummer about the fuel pump and junk.

              Fraid to agree with em, but sounds like bad Transmission mojo. Thats pretty much the exact list of problems that ThatOneGirl's GM had before we got the new tranny.

                Make sure the TV rod is still where it should be. Might be able to adjust it to help a bit, or if the bushing fell apart, that will be part of the problem. Probably you're just looking at 22 year old tired transmission problems though. Make sure the fluid level and condition are OK, maybe give it a service, and start saving your pennies.

                  Yea, I've been having slowly progressing tranny problems for the past year. Did tighten my TV rod today a little, only helped a little bit on the heavy acceleration. Not much though.

                  I figure if anything, it's as good a time as any to rebuild it, then I can put my shift kit and a heavy duty torque convertor in, lol.

                  And if she's jealous of the new addition, she can deal with it!! Besides, it's in the shop getting a new motor anyway. Bonnie snapped a rod, 500 for the motor 600 for install. This means no Duece upgrades for quite a while unless I run into more money...

                  Once the Bonnie is out of the shop, the Deuce is going back in. Prolly has vapor lock in the fuel pump, don't think it was set right in the first place. Didn't have starting problems with the new one until I got low on fuel. ONCE.

                      Yea, that's what went wrong with it when it started knocking.

                      Either way... I'm getting a newer motor with less miles, and I'll still be under $3000 on it, lol. Most '95 Bonnies around my area are 4k-5k, so I'm still making out with a good deal, haha.

                      We think the guy put a bunch of Marvel in it when he changed the oil before we took a look at it.
