So, I took the Lincoln to the track yesterday and had some issues.
I ran the car on snow tires, figuring that they would give me enough traction to come off the line on the converter like it did on radial last year. Oh, was I wrong.
First pass:
Reaction: 1.2109
60ft: 3.0052
1/8 ET: 11.6310
1/8 MPH: 64.37
1/4 ET: 17.3272
1/4 MPH: 80.46
Car FRIED the tires on the line, had to let off to get it to go anywhere.
2nd pass, dusted the tires off a bit to try to hook up:
Reaction: 1.4171
60ft: 3.0180
1/8 ET: 11.6589
1/8 MPH: 64.11
1/4 ET: 17.9029
1/4 MPH: 79.92
Car roasted the tires AGAIN. This wasn't getting any more fun.
So, I went and borrowed a set of 275 ET Street Drag Radials on some Drag Lites, and slapped them on:
3rd pass:
Reaction: 1.0289
60ft: 2.5462
1/8 ET: 11.0692
1/8 MPH: 64.54
1/4 ET: 17.2790
1/4 MPH: 80.07
It felt like the tranny was slipping off the line now! DEAR CHRIST! Because the tires sure weren't..............
4th pass:
Reaction: 1.1849
60ft: 2.5832
1/8 ET: 11.2750
1/8 MPH: 61.99
1/4 ET: 17.7099
1/4 MPH: 76.65
It definitely felt like the tranny was slipping on the last pass. Car was hot..............
The REALLY annoying part is, and I suppose it's self-inflicted, is that the car just starts to make power, and then it shifts. It's got torque out of the hole, but with a good sized tire on it and 3.27's, it takes a while to get up into her power range. When she gets there, she is rewarded with a gear shift, which instantly drops her back out of it............ It was NOT a good night.
Gadget, do you happen to know the part number of that Mustang/LSC shift governor? I'd like to see how much of an improvement on the butt-dyno that makes over the current shift point.
Ultimately, the car isn't going to be seeing much more money this year, it's time to finish putting the Capri together so I can get some decent 1/4 mile times
I was also asleep at the tree as you can probably tell. I was more worried about getting the car off the line than cutting a good light.............
Your comments are welcome gentlemen!
