    A/C Compressor, Air Pump Removal

So I found an A/C delete kit on summit racing and then I was looking at the engine and i realized the belt running them is just for those two components.

So why can't I just remove them and the belt and leave it be like that?

Um, because you can. People do it all the time.
Unless you have emissions testing, that is.
Then you just get a shorter belt for the air pump.

We need one of those things, the AC. The smog shit can go away but aircon is a requirement.

Where I live I have no emissions testing, Therefore I am going to go ahead and remove the air pump and ac compressor.

Because he doesn't like humidity. Its a requirement for the lower latitudes.

I used to think A/C was unnessesary. Then after getting into a dark brown car that'd been sitting in direct sunlight on 100 degree days for eight hours, I decided something needed to be done.

And yes R134a rocks my socks because R12 never got the air down to 34 like I got coming out of the vents !

yes the AC is a requirement on any civilized automobile. I'm also fat and sweat a lot, so having a rolling deep freezer is a very useful thing when you don't want to have to shampoo the sweat stains out of the light grey velour upholstry.

Capri: yes, just shitcan the smog pump, it will pass even with it gone. Just make sure the car is fully warmed up first. I've run mine through that way with no problems.

That is probably a result of some other problem with your A/C system working better because R12 refrigerant is far superior in almost every way to R134.

If you converted to 134a you probably changed your hoses and filter dryer (which probably fixed a small leak resulting in better operation)

R12 is bad for the earths ozone layer but it has a larger molecular structure than 134a making it easier to contain within the system, also 16 ounces of R12 has the same “cooling” efficiency of 18 ounces of 134a or R22.

Best shit they ever made, glad I have a stockpile of it to continue charging my system, it's not illegal to own just to produce.

I recently finished my MACS certification for automotive A/C service at work, I learned a lot.

yes R-12 is far better. you can get sub-zero A/C temps with R-12 to the point where the refrigerant would FREEZE.

anyway A/c isnt a requirement. its nice to have, but it wastes precious HP we dont have.

A/c gone by bye in my car, along with the smog shit. i got room now for the supercharger
