1990 Town Car Stock Tubular Exhaust Manifolds?

Do you guys think that the tubular exhaust manifolds on the 1990 Town Car are worth adding to my 89 Mercury? The Junkyard that has them wants $15-$25 each, so $30-$50 for both, and I have to pull them. Should I go and get them or just forget it?

They are a direct bolt in, but I don't know of what power increase you'd see. The yard should be givin those away really. I'd say $20 for the pair or no dice. You can find mustang shorties for that price range.

That's a little high. I say hold out for a set of Mustang Shorties. They eBay all the time for $50.

I got my off-road H-Pipe and shorties last year for $75.

the only advantage would be a slight weight savings. the big restriction with the stock manifolds, including the town car tublars, is the small (less than 2") collector opening.
you may see an improvement using a die grinder and opening the collector up, but you have to be careful not to make it too thin, which will cause it to crack.

The tubular manifolds are probably only marginally better than cast iron. Barely worth the trouble to change, though they do look a bit better I guess.

yea, I'd skip those and go for 'Stang shorties...they should be easy to find on the forums for cheap....like GMN, CrownVic.Net, Corral.Net, etc.
if you join Corral.net and send a PM to mattponch, his actual name is Bill, he can get you some shorties. maybe even better ones than stock stang ones...just tell him Colin sent ya
