    Weird engine issue

    Hello all,

I'm having some weird engine problems. 1991 Grand Marquis, 5.0L SO, AOD, etc.

At idle or low RPM, no matter what the gas is at, it will randomly cough, buck, and/or stall. Check Engine light flickers while it's doing it, but goes off afterwards.

We have replaced the idle sensors, spark plugs, distributor parts, alternator, battery, air filter and fuel filter(not all specifically related to this problem), and it's done nothing...the one thing that has made it run smoother and better was to clean the upper intake manifold with carb cleaner. Idle air sensor is cleaned and functional

Any ideas on what this could be, guys? It will even cough or stall with medium to full gas...I can't figure out what it is!

Check vacuum to the MAP sensor, see if the cats are clogged, TPS.

Get the codes checked on it...Always a good place to start.

I guess I forgot to mention--there ARE no codes

And by the way, love your wagon--I'm into road racing and autocross, and I'd like to try my yacht on that sort of thing someday.

        Guess so

Might be the cats. Could be fuel filter. Could be a lot of things.
