    excess TV pressure

This is not quite about box panthers, but this is a box panther AOD transmission that I installed in my 72 LTD convertable with 351W.

Even with the TV cable disconnected from the Sonnax adapter atttached to the Lokar TV cable, the TV pressure is at least 50 psi at idle. WOT TV pressure is ~85psi.

The 1-2 upshift at part throttle is at just over 25 mph. the 2-3 upshift is at ~45mph. I've only tried to drive this less than 30 miles since the swap.
What do I need to do to get the TV pressure down so that this will shift somewhere near normal?

I think the only adjustment is in the cable itself ?? Id think the kit would have come with adjustment instructions!!!

The cables come with adjustment instructions. There is no mention about what to do if the TV pressure is high even with the cable disconnected.

Verify that the TV lever is returning all the way. We had problems with the Lokar cable on a 351 swap car with the TV lever on the trans not moving all the way back. We fixed it with a small spring on the trans itself that pulled the TV lever to the closed position. If that doesn't help, I'd have to suspect some internal problem with the trans. Not really well versed on the guts so no idea what it might be.

I've not heard of Ford guys doing it in particular, but an old friend of mine had a TH200R4 in his '87 T type with a special high-volume pump that provided higher than stock fluid pressures for firmer shifts. Seems improbable in a tranny coming from a Panther, but who knows.

I did once have an issue with a TV cable sticking in a slightly-open position. Some quality time with the WD-40 on the cable and lever on the side of the tranny did a great job of crutching the problem for quite some time.

Question, though - what's a Sonnax adapter? My Lokar TV kit installed without any extra parts - at least for what I was doing with it.

The sonnax piece is an adapter that mounted on the throttle linkage of the Edelbrock AVS carb that I have on the 351.

Now I'm curious ... I'll have to see what else I can learn about this adapter. 302 vs. 351 should make no difference at all .... does it provide progressive TV application like some of the TH700-R4 adapters for Holley carbs? That could be interesting if it's the case.

I just hooked my Lokar cables directly to the EDL-1406 with no adapters at all:
