    EFI 351 w/o a hood scoop

    Lookie what I just found...

    manifold adaptor 351/5.0
    [11-82010] $99.00
    manifold adaptor 351/5.0

Broncos has come up with an adapter that will allow you to use the 351w lower truck manifold and the car 5.0 HO upper manifold. This will allow you to put a 351W with EFI under a stock steel hood in your Bronco. comes with two gaskets and all necessary hardware. This is a true bolt-on fix for your hood and firewall clearance problems. Plus you may gain a little horsepower.

I guess my 351 swap would look a lot more stock then...

I'd like to see what that looks like inside. Another thing to consider though, a 351 at the lower intake is going to be taller than a 302 at the same point. Add to that about 1" for the spacer, and it still might be too tall. Need to get some measurements from the top of the upper intake to say the top of the bellhouse to compare it to a 302 to judge how much room there is.

Yea, I just came across it and Im looking for some more info before I get some rest. Its made for early bronco guys swapping to EFI 351's because the truck intake doesn't clear.

Found a picture of it - listed in a different section of the site. Looks like a quality piece.

One thing I notice, no EGR opening.

Nothing a few quality minutes with a drill bit can't fix!

Looks interesting, though, and it's a lot cheaper than getting a full outfit from Trick Flow or Edelbrock. Seems FRPP used to have a Cobra or GT-40 compatible 5.8L lower, but I'm not finding it.

For the height issue, it should be easy to measure or look up the height of your upper versus a truck upper and see how much lower it'll be. It's encouraging that it was designed specifically to use a completely stock 5.8L EFI with less hood clearance.

It's still be somewhat cooler if the spacer were made of phenolic material.

Only problem is that a 302 upper will choke a 351. Look at the diffferences in port size.

Why not get a GT40 lower for the 351 and GT40 upper. That would be lower and better. Or any other form of aftermarket 351 EFI intake. Their are plenty as it is a common swap into the mustang.

Aren't the '94-'95 Mustang Cobra intakes compatible with the GT-40 lower? If I'm not mistaken, they sit lower too to fit uner the hood of the SN-95 cars.

GT40 351 lower + GT40 Upper is a better option, but I just came across this I wanted to post it up for everyone.

I emailed the site and the adapter is 1" tall.

That's what I was thinking, but then I couldn't find the 351W GT-40 lower on Summitracing.com. Since you all are making references to it, now I'm certain I really did see it. I figured he was partly just trying to save money, since a complete aftermarket upper and lower package can run from maybe $500 to nearly $800. I once looked into the "power elbow" plenum that appears to bolt to a conventional four-barrel intake, but that looked like a pretty expensive way to go too:

Thing is, I don't think there is any cheap way to do it. This is just another option.

And from what I've found egr is routed externally on 351 trucks, they have a line run to the valve directly from the passenger side header. The 302 trucks get their egr flow from the lower intake somewhere, but still not the same way as our cars.

Still gonna be too tall. I'd see what you could do with cutting down the truck lower intake and using an edlebrock/typhoon upper.

More EGR stuff - I don't know exactly how the egr gases are run through the system so if some could could explain that or show me a diagram that would be great, but here is my current plan.

You can introduce the egr gases with the use of a explorer 90* elbow for the later model 302s, then use that egr valve or the truck egr valve and run a line to the headers, have a bung welded in and your in business? I can't remember where the line connecting the heads in the back goes to but you could possibly tap into that as well as a source.
