I decided to start another thread since this is a new issue. I have found that my brand new fuel pump starts out quiet but gets loud if I have been driving more than an hour or so in the heat. It's consistiently above 110 where I live right now. I also just filled the tank and noticed that as I drive it will leak gas out of the cap. I have to mention that right now I have the cap cracked open a bit because I have disconnected the tank vent line from the charcoal canister because that and the canister purge solenoid were not working properly. also, one it heats up and the pump starts making noise, I can feel the heat coming through the filler neck and if I put my hand there it will condense fuel on my hand!
This car sat for 10 years and I've brought it back from the dead. Is it possible the fuel filter I installed a month or two ago is already clogged and creating resistance for the pump? I cleaned the injectors, replaced the FPR and replaced fuel filter a couple months ago. I just replaced the pump a week or so ago just as a precaution. the previous pump was doing the same thing: making noise when it got hot after an hour or so of being on.
Maybe there is something I'm not thinking of?
