    Code 12

Need help solving this code. I dunno if I need to solve it before I go for emissions, but I figure I'd better try.

I've replaced the IAC and TPS in my efforts, to no avail.

Any ideas what else could cause it?

No, 11 is normal. 12 is RPM too high during test...

According to my Actron Code Scanner booklet; code twelve means "[S]ystem cannot raise engine speed above normal idle." You must have read my mind because I just bought this scanner today and I am going to try it on my 86 5.0L EFI CV in ten minutes or so. I will start my own thread on that to see what you guys think.

Check the calibration on the TPS. If its not correct, it might make the idle go silly. Should be as close to 1.0 volt on the green wire as you can get. Also, if you replaced the sensors, reboot the computer and have it re-learn the idle before testing it again.

You can re-set the computer by disconnecting the battery and draining any power from the system. Leave it dis connected for a couple mins and hook up the battery again, that should clear the memory on the computer and you will get a fresh start.
