Didn't know that ever existed. The farther back you go the more odd options and combinations you can find. Todays cars are going to be boring to look back on.
2001 Ford Crown Victoria P71 - "The Fire Engine"
1985 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Here are some excerpts from the brochures, for those curious:
"Music from the sublime to the spectacular.
Lincoln Town Car comes with an AM/FM Stereo Cassette sound system that supplies a remarkable listening experience. But even it's fidelity can be topped with the spectacular Ford JBL Audio System option. It includes a 140-watt amplifier and 12 premium speakers which have been specially designed and strategically located throughout the interior. Even a Disc Player option.
Topping off the list of musical choices is a compact disc player which can be added to the Ford JBL Audio System. It features automatic search, scan and dual repeat."
-1989 LTC Brochure
"Sensational Sounds.
Standard in Town Car is a High-Level Audio System with an AM/FM stereo radio with cassette player, premium speakers and a remote 80-watt amplifier. An automatic power antenna is also included.
Or choose the optional Ford JBL Audio System. (Standard on Cartier Town Car.) In addition to the electronic AM/FM stereo radio with cassette, the 145-watt biamplified Ford JBL Audio System includes satellite speakers and a subwoofer. You can even replace the cassette tape radio with an optional digital compact disc radio.
The optional Ford JBL Audio System features speakers specially designed and located to match the acoustics of Town Car's interior."
-1990 LTC Brochure
We had the JBL System w/ compact disc in our '90 TC - sounded EXCELLENT. Even by today's standards in factory automotive musical reproduction. It was a very well engineered system that matched the Town Car's interior nicely.
The system was essentially 'copied' into the CV/GM, but without the unique sound/acoustical directional imaging the Town Car recieved.
