    explorer HOs produce howmany HP?

is it easyer to do a HO coversion? or HO swap?

when droppin a HO in a box, is it good to stick to the fox chasis accessory set up, or run them like the lopo box set up?

Exploders I think are rated 210 at the crank, HO 225, but thats a little generous. Probably the 94 Mustang rating is more accurate, 215 hp.

Define easy. If you have a complete HO, its easier to swap an entire engine vs tearing down the motor in the car, swapping the cam, heads, intake, etc. Its less time consuming too. Keep in mind the water pump on an HO must be changed to the Panther pump. HO engines spin the water pump backwards.

Easiest way to do the accessories is keep the stock Panther stuff. AC is on the wrong side in a Fox chassis, alternator would need to be re-wired, and probably other stuff would need to be worked out. The simple solution is to just keep whats already there.

Most HO's dyno about 190 to the tires through a 5spd, which is consistent to the 225HP rating. The 94/95 cars had the intake "elbow" as well as an awful ECM, combine that on top of the revision in the SAE standards, and we have why they were rated lower, they literally made less power.

The Explorer motor is VERY similar to the '93 Cobra engine, the restriction is the exhaust. The Cobra motor was rated at 245HP flywheel but in dyno tests, has made close to that to the tires........

If you had the choice between an HO and an Explorer motor, the Explorer motor is the better choice.

Gadget is right-on in regards to the accessories, I've considered using the HO setup myself and eliminating the AC, but I don't know if it's worth the hassle.

            I thought a '97 Explorer was rated at 240?
