so yeah, i tried lookin for that little plastic peice in my merk because ever since i got it it downshifts only from od real hard once in awhile. but the problem is... i didnt see it. i looked all over that tb and couldnt find the damn thing. could somebody post a quick pic of exactly what it should look like? thnx

im sure someone has a pic, but in the meantime, under you throttlebody where you throttle cable hooks up, theres another cable that goes to the trans, the grommet is what holds the linkage in place

when i inspected my bros TC, the linkage was diconected since the grommet split in half! i wasent able to get a brass on, i could only get the polyurithain grommet from ford.

you have an 86 right?
the 86's do not have a tv bushing to rot and fall off.......the tv cables do break tho

So my 86 Grand Marquis is not affected by this issue, and I can stop worrying about it. Thats really good news to me as the trans is about 1 1/2 old now and I'd like to keep it going for some time. My friend's 91 Mark VII still needs the brass bushing though. It's not a bushing the '86s have, it's more like a pin and an anchor type of thing, very similar to what Lokar sells in their kick-down cable setups.Comment

The end on the 86 cable hooks on a post with a groove cut into it that sticks off the bottom of the throttle body. Its actually very much like a GM cable for a 700R4.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Its on the bottom of the throttle body. They don't break unless you fool with them. My original snapped when I tried to take it off because I didn't know how it was hooked on there, and tried to pull it straight down like the throttle cable. Its not really a fail item on an 86 unless you fool with it.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
