The biggest problem is the A/C and alternator are opposite of us panthers. I've been considering swapping from a SN95 setup for some time, but I would have to redo my entire A/C setup.

Timing cover is the same, at least on a Mark VII with the reverse water pump. Water pump is definitely changed, it spins opposite. The alternator is a minor bit, just a matter of extending one small wire for the idiot light circuit. A 2g or 3g runs with just an output wire and an idiot light wire, so re-doing that is pretty simple. The AC hose routing is the biggest headache.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I visually compared the one from my 86 Towncar to the one on my 88 Mark VII engine, and the shape of the ports and all were identical as far as I could tell. Only difference, the 1986 Towncar cover had no fuel pump boss while the 1988 Mark VII cover does. I don't have cooling problems with my car. I won't swear that the cover on other models is not different for counter rotation, but on my Mark VII engine the cover is functionally identical.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

The plate on my engine looks identical to that one you have posted, fuel pump boss and all. I had been told it was different so I waited till I got the original engine pulled so I could remove the water pump to see. Since it was the same, I elected to just use the Mark VII cover since it was already cleaned up. I still find it wierd that the 88 cover had the fuel pump boss while the 86 did not. Probably some leftover part or from a different casting plant.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
