    Transmission Buzzing...?

    Just found out about this...

I had the door open I was backing up slightly.

When I shifted into drive, something started buzzing. Going through the gears; it buzzes in 1, D, and OD; but not in N, R, or P...

    Any ideas?

I have a slight leak in my trans lines; they need to be replaced; MrLTD saw this. Would that mean that I am low on tranny fuel? Any special kind I should add?

Evidently the AODs have a tendency to buzz, because there have been threads about this before and everyone says they just do that. Still, I've never experienced it. *shrug*

Mine does it in park most of the time but sometimes it does it in gear. For a while I thought it was my power steering pump but its not.

It's a hydraulic whine. At certain temps with certain pressures and certain transmission it will happen. It's nothing unusual or bad. Just an unforeseen resonating of fluid flowing under pressure.

Not all of them do. And if it does, it doesn't usually stay that way for more than a month or two. I had one of my trannies do it for about 3 months then it went away.

Mine has been doing it off and on for almost a year. Not as much lately since it got real cold tho. My power steering pump has gotten really frickin loud on startup, but that goes away after about 5-10 seconds.

Mobil 1. Get a vacuum pump or something and change your power steering fluid.

I had my Mustang do the same thing, it had a loud pump when I got it. Changed the fluid out for Mobil 1 ATF and it became VERY quiet.
