Oil Pressure Specs

ok...double checked everything about the 1990 i have. it idles at 750rpm and hot engine has 15psi oil pressure. cold engine it has 45psi. doing 65mph it is running 1500rpm and 25 psi oil pressure hot. i dont know if these numbers are good or not, but it is a comparison to what i have.

Its getting worn down but still acceptable. Run 10w40 in it and roll with it. Still got another 100k in that bottom end.

i think the biggest issue is the lower intake is sewing oil from the back side right onto the exhaust. i cant take it apart till i get Baby back on the road.

I like the 270 degree rotation of the mechanical gauge...makes it far easier to read because the divisions are further apart.

That and I have 'em laying around, so when I put one on my car I didn't pay a dime for it (just the installation kit).

They make electrics now with 270 degree sweeps, though they are pretty expensive.

I don't really like oil running in my car, but I too like the mechanical gauges for thier accuracy and immediate response. The electric ones I've had are sluggish. Electric Temp gauges are are though.

I also like the sweep of the cheap mechanical gauges but oil lines running in my car make me nervous as well. At some point I want to change my gauges out so they all are a 270 sweep.

I figure, 40ish pounds per square inch of oil under pressure plus pinhole sized tubing equals one hell of a potential mess. no thanks!
