The 91's has a little hole in it... I think I have a spare junkyard one. Has anyone here with a '86+ replaced theirs in the car???
It looks like its gonna be tight getting it around the upper...

I replaced the one in my '82 and it was fairly tight, SEFI can only be worse. You can usually patch one up with some conduit and a little brazing.

If I had it to do over again I would have just bought a set of those $2 plates a bolted over the holes since I don't have any use for the hole smog system.

I've done it and its really tight especially with SEFI and an HO upper. Best thing to do is to remove the upper intake before trying to get behind it and watch the tranny dipstick tube when bolting it up.

I dont wanna take off the upper!!! It does need VC gaskets though. Theres a nice fresh coating of seepage creeping down the block, lol. Not too bad though.
I might as well put on an HO upper then... Ive already been looking at them on eBay (and intake tubes ) Whats a good price for an HO upper/TB unit???
I gotta keep mine smog legal, for now...

I got both of my H.O uppers with everything attached (spacer, egr, tb, ect) for bout $50 canadian each at the yard. Got a lopo spacer for free and had it bored out for $20. Probly get em cheaper if your friends with mustang enthusiasts.

Dont fear pulling the upper. Its only a few bolts. You'll spend more time worrying about doing it than actually pulling the thing

the upper is friggin easy to pull. An you prolly don't even have to remove it, just loosen it to get clearance. I've got a few of thoe bypass tubes sitting around, I think they are for an EFI motor....

I have been through everything and couldnt find a left and right lower. I do have 2 CV that are going to the scrap yard soon after I finish moving into my shop. Hopefully by the end of the month I will be done with the move. I had to scrap a bunch of stuff to clean up the yard and get some gas money etc.

Would they know you removed it with a visual inspection, cause you can junk all that stuff and pass the sniffer easy.

Just hacksaw off the tube, and turn the blocks around, and they will block off the holes in the back if the head.

Problem solved.
