The blocks are about the same assuming both are roller blocks.

With only 62K on it, I'd just drop the Exploder motor in.

I'm with tiggie if you have the money just drop the 62k motor in. the gt-40 motor I'm working on in my class is in shitty shape theres so much sludge inside

Blocks are pretty much the same honestly. The earlier 90s motors had a forged piston, but its not really a seriously better piston than the hyperutectic ones in the Explorer block. For a naturally aspirated engine, it won't even matter. Its going to cost you more to strip the heads and intake from that 62k mile Explorer engine and find an older HO shortblock with the forged pistons than its ever going to be worth. If you're really serious about wanting super duty internal parts you aren't using stock pistons anyway, so its not really a big deal. Get the Explorer engine, check it over and if its in good shape, stick a set of bearings and an oil pump in and go with it.

I am spraying Explorer motors with no problems.
Why would you even bother with an older higher mileage motor when you have a low mileage motor like that?
