    my merc is now parked

Well i converted to a 4bbl on the weekend and since that all i have had is problems, my 4 bbl intake i got is warped, my thermostate housing started leaking like crazy spraying antifreez all over the engine, and my alternator quit working, i have had the intake off 2 times trying to seal it from leacking, when i put it back on it ran fine, then when i took if for a test run it started leaking again bringing the rps up to 2000 at idle speed,, i was going to put my 2 bbl back on but i cut my tv rod to extend it for the 4 bbl,,,

RTV silicone or gasket sealer is your friend. Goop it on the thermostat housing and let it dry. See if that works. You can also buy sheets of cork gasket material and cut your own gaskets, buy a sheet and make it 2-3 layers thick. Maybe that will help seal it if its warped.

Is it only the thermostat housing leaking or is the accual intake leaking coolant into the engine? If its just the thermostat housing you shouldnt need to keep pulling the enitire intake to change it.

Pull the alt and get it tested at an autoparts store, see if it checks out. Could be a bad connection or the voltage regulator. You never know.

Dont give up mang, this is just part of the game.

I don't think you should be using a modified TV rod for that 4bbl either, I was under the impression that the only way to do it right without burning up the AOD was with a lokar cable kit.

+1...I honestly would not chance it with the rod.

Could be that the alternator got fried from getting squirted with antifreeze.

Sorry to hear you're having such problems, mang.

Ditch the rod. It's not a good idea.

Trust me, i've seen lot's of people burn up AODs doing that.

well im driving the merc again, with the 2 bbl back on, i might see what i can get done to the 4 bbl intake at a mechine shop, ya i think the 4 bbl intake is warped beacuse it had the major vacuume leakes around the head and intake mateing surfaces, and i made them spotless before i installed the intake, and i used RTV silicon, i think the 4 bbl intake was leaking antifreez in to the engine to beacause i now have milky oil. and i guess my alternator works cause i pulled the battery cable off while it was running and it never shut down and its keeping a charge so i dont know why the light is on..
and ya the tv rod that i made, made the tranny act relly weird, it would only shift if i took my foot off the gas and push the gas again, then it would not shift at all, so i left the car home this morning and got my dad to drive me to work then got a new tv rod off a car at work, and got a buddy to drive me home at lunch time so i could put the new rod on and take my car back to work, so it's up and running and driving back with the 2 bbl for now but at least she's still driving...

hope you changed the oil again after changing the intake. Coolant in the oil = death. Do not run it with milky oil. It does a body good, it does nothing good for your bearings.
