Once I adress the fuel return line leak (as stated in a separate post) then I might take a stab at premium fuel. Right now I'd have to guess that I get aroudn 10 mpg.

Rod knock will bear its head at no-load elevated rpm's, not under load at low RPM's. Piston slap will show up at a cold start-up or if the engine has cooled after running. Piston slap really isn't an issue once the motor warms up to operating temp in those engines which have it. Rod knock does not show up unless you have major bearing wear. There is no snake oil to fix it, but some may prolong the inevitable doom as it is the sound of either a slow or a near quickly coming certain death. A healthy motor with over 200,000 miles will not have any rod knock.
Lifter noise however does often improve with many of the popular snake oils.

The Rislone I put in must've thinned the oil a bit, because it's noisier now. Bought some Restore and put in tonight. We'll see what it does.
Since I got the speakers and CD player hooked up I don't hear the noise much anymore. As such I'm not as worried about it, heh. Still, I'll continue my quest to quiet it down. Maybe some thicker oil in about 1000 miles.
